Call for Tracks

You are invited to submit a track proposal for ISCRAM 2027.

Under the theme “Supporting First Nations and remote communities”, ISCRAM 2027 continues the conference's long tradition of inviting proposals for tracks that bring together researchers and practitioners around a shared topic in crisis and disaster management. Tracks may build on tracks from previous ISCRAM conferences, or introduce new topics of interest to the ISCRAM community — particularly those connected to remote and First Nations communities, the Indo-Pacific region, and the natural and human-made hazards facing Western Australia and beyond.

Each track is led by one or more track chairs, who are responsible for promoting the track, recruiting reviewers, and overseeing the review process for papers submitted to that track. Track chairs are recognised as members of the ISCRAM 2027 Program Committee.

Proposals of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

  • First Nations & Indigenous knowledge in crisis management
  • Remote & rural community resilience
  • Natural hazards (bushfire, cyclone, flood, earthquake, tsunami)
  • Cybersecurity & critical infrastructure protection
  • AI & generative AI for crisis response
  • Crisis informatics & social media
  • Human-in-the-loop & decision support systems
  • Indo-Pacific regional collaboration

Track Proposal Submission Instructions

Your track proposal should clearly cover the following sections and components to ensure a successful evaluation by the organizing committee:

1. Introduction to the Track

Provide a descriptive introduction to the track, approximately 10-20 lines. Please give a clear motivation for the track, explain its direct relation to the conference theme of supporting remote and First Nations communities, and articulate clear aims and objectives for running it within the ISCRAM 2027 program.

2. Track Topics

List and describe a number of core topics and/or types of contributions that sessions for this track could cover. Make sure to include themes or topics directly related to the overarching conference theme.

  • Topic 1: Community-led disaster risk reduction and indigenous early warning systems.
  • Topic 2: Technological resilience and communication resilience in isolated and remote areas.
  • Topic 3: Cross-sector collaboration and multi-agency coordination during remote emergency responses.
  • (Add additional topics as relevant to your specific track focus)

3. Authors

Provide a description of the professional network and research community that would be involved in your track, including specific strategies and channels on how you plan to attract potential authors and high-quality submissions.

4. Reviewer Board

Indicate at least 10 external reviewers who will be involved in the review process, and outline your plan to recruit additional reviewers if submission volume exceeds expectations. Please include the full name (first name and surname) and institutional affiliation for each proposed reviewer.

5. Track Chair and Co-Chair

Describe the previous experience of each proposed co-chair with running tracks at ISCRAM or related international conferences, alongside other qualifications such as recent research papers or projects on the proposed topic. Note which co-chairs plan to attend the conference in Perth to lead and manage the sessions connected with your track.
